Summer Recreation Information

Summertime in the Rocky Mountains is incredible but the weather is ever changing and you should always be extra prepared! Keep in mind that thunderstorms spring up in the afternoon, usually after 2 p.m. so an early start to hiking or your day’s activity is recommended. Always bring an extra layer of clothes as the weather can change suddenly. Remember that you are anywhere from 7,000 to 14,000 feet above sea level and the sun is much more intense, so always use sunscreen. It is also important to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Please see Winter Recreation Information for tips on high altitude sickness.

The spring, summer and fall outdoor adventures in Summit County are endless. Below is a list of our favorite activities. Also see the Hiking & Biking link for additional information.
