Summit County And Dillon Information

Summit County is just 65 miles west of Denver via I-70 and approximately 1.5 hours drive from Denver International Airport. The county is called “Colorado’s Playground” for its access to skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, sailing, and fishing. Whatever your interests, Summit County offers you a variety of outdoor activities any time of the year! The Town of Dillon is located in the heart of Summit County, and during the winter it is your connection to many of the world’s greatest ski resorts, yet here you can escape the high price of a ski-in / ski-out condo and the hustle bustle at the resorts. During the other months you have spectacular Lake Dillon for sailing, kayaking and fishing. The area boasts hundreds of hiking and biking trails and the ability to climb a 14,000 foot mountain!

What to do around town

Just across the street from the condo complex is the Dillon Marina, with its summer Tiki Bar, the Dillon Amphitheater and a large park. During the summer you can rent boats, attend one of the free Saturday night concerts or take the kids to the newly remodeled playground. Every Friday from June through October there is a Farmer’s Market one block from the condo.

If you are interested in biking or just strolling around the lake, the bike path that begins in Keystone and ends in Vail runs right by the condo complex. During the winter there is a great sledding hill just left of the marina.

A little history of the town

If you can imagine no lake and three rivers coming together where a trading post and a cluster of cabins might have existed, then you can visualize Dillon in the late 1800s. But water storage was needed for Denver’s growing population and in 1963 the Town of Dillon was relocated to build Lake Dillon reservoir. One of the few buildings that was salvaged and moved was the Arapahoe Cafe, which is now located just a 1/2 block from the condo complex. It offers delicious food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
